Owner and Master Trainer of X-Fit Boxing, Ahmik "Banga" Bryant, brings years of experience as both a competitive amateur boxer and a certified fitness professional. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a minor in Exercise Science from New Jersey City University and is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). Ahmik's athletic background includes collegiate football, where he served as team captain and earned all-conference honors, before transitioning back to his first love, boxing. With a stellar amateur boxing record and titles such as the NJ Diamond Gloves and NJ State Championships, Ahmik now shares his expertise as both a coach and registered professional boxer, looking forward to his pro debut.
Some of the benefits of my group fitness include exposure to a social and fun environment, a safe and effectively designed workout, a consistent exercise schedule, an accountability factor for participating in exercise, and a workout that requires no prior exercise knowledge or experience.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
All classes are subject to cancellation if there is not a minimum of at least four (4) clients registered. This applies to adult classes specifically unless the quota is met.
CLASS DESCRIPTIONS:
BoxFit Class Procedure (Noon and Evening Classes)
BoxFit (boxing fitness) classes and sessions will be circuit-based. We will go through a series of different boxing exercises and stations by the round. That means we will dedicate a minimum of three 3-minute rounds of each exercise before moving on the next station in the circuit. Each private session lasts 1 hour; each class lasts 45 minutes. Every session starts with a warm-up (usually jump rope) and dynamic stretching. Every session ends with a cool-down and static stretching. Shadow-boxing, pad work, heavybags, speedbags, double-end bags, slipballs, conditioning & agility drills are a few of the numerous activities done during sessions. For clients & students with no boxing background, fundamentals & conditioning are the points of focus in the beginning. As clients & students basic skills & fitness develop, technique & stragey play a larger role in the program. When the instructor feels the student is ready, incorporating sparring into the program is strongly suggested but is always optional. Sparring always starts with light contact, initially against the instructor only. As the student improves, he/she may progress with harder contact and eventually sparring with other students. Safety is our first priority, and all sparring is closely monitored. The techniques learned and used at X-Fit Boxing are here to teach us how to hit a heavy bag or punching bag properly so that we can enjoy this vigorous workout without injuring ourselves while we do it. We learn footwork to better understand balance, range, defense and how to use the old adage of “Stick and Move” to increase the work requirements as we train. The partner drills are geared towards giving you the fundamentals you will need to use in order to spar or just better understand the movements of boxing. Not everyone who does the partner drills has to spar; in fact, most members don’t. That decision is totally up to you. Here at X-Fit Boxing, it is our view that joining a boxing gym that doesn’t teach you basic boxing techniques is a boxing gym that is putting your body at risk. Everything is taught in a fundamental manner so that our members are learning as they are working out. Please bring a towel. I provide AB mats but feel free to bring your own for abdominal exercises. Note: MEMBERS MUST HAVE THEIR OWN BOXING GLOVES and HAND WRAPS. Hand wraps are available and for sale here at the gym. Check schedule for times and days of class.
That Work & P.I.T.A (Pain In The Abs) That Work and P.I.T.A (Pain In The Abs) Sessions are high-intensity calisthenics. We focus on body weight exercises with minimal weights that are geared to enhance your overall level of fitness. Stability, Strength, Flexibility, Power, Agility, Quickness and Balance are the seven principles of fitness we gear our programs around. Objects of resistance include free weights, medicine balls, strength bands, sandbags, and jump ropes. For the new member looking to get back into shape, we modify the exercises for you. For the more conditioned member, the training variables are progressed more rapidly. We have a lot fun in these classes. We provide Yoga, Pilates and AB mats, but please feel free to bring your own for the abdominal exercises; also bring a towel because YOU WILL SWEAT! Be sure to check schedule for times and days of classes.
